Mini Vacation to Michigan!

Whoa, it's been way too long since the last time I blogged!   We've been busy, busy with work, summer activities, a mini vacation, birthday party, and lots more!    I thought I'd share some photos from our little vacation to Michigan a couple weeks ago!

We didn't want a full blown vacation, because we took one last year, and we'd like to do some things around our house this year.....but we still wanted to get away for a few days!   I enlisted the help of my Facebook friends, and we decided to travel towards the Lake Michigan coast of Michigan!

We left on Monday morning and returned Wednesday night.   First up--the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners.  Now I'm not a car person, but this place was pretty cool!   We got to see so many cars in various styles from throughout the years.   Imagine old Fords, Lincolns, and Chevrolets from different times during the 1900s!   They even had a Disney set in the museum, from the movie "The Gnome-Mobile" which I had never seen or even heard of when I went there.

The next day we checked out Windmill Island Gardens in Holland, Michigan.  It's like a big flower garden with a Dutch Windmill out in the middle.   To be honest, I was a little disappointed with Holland--I figured it was going to be a little more like a Dutch town, similar to Frankenmuth, if you've ever been there, but everything was spread out over a bigger town.   The Island Gardens were beautiful though!  I'd love to go back in the spring when all the tulips are in bloom!

Since we went to check out Lake Michigan, what better way to spend our last day than at the beach?!?  This was the first time the kids had ever been to the beach and played in the sand, and they had a blast!  I felt bad because we forgot to bring sand toys, but we made do with some plastic Starbucks cups #momoftheyear  ☺   If you're ever on the shores of Lake Michigan, check out the beach at South Haven!    Clean, not too crowded, close to town!    We did have to pay to park, but it was only $10 for the whole day and we didn't have to walk far!

I hope you all have had an amazing summer!    It's been kind of chilly here lately, but I LOVE IT!   I'm ready to take on fall--bring on the jeans and sweaters and fall colors!!

Until next time,

Chelsey
